We at WellTrust we have one of the most highly qualified team of youth AOD practitioners in the country. Our staff is led by Murray Trenberth, a former secondary school principal. Murray developed an interest in helping young people with AOD issues whilst a DP and has worked with students to help them resolve the cause of their problems since. Murray is passionate about young people, and he also runs public education classes, professional development for teachers, and is often requested as a guest speaker for a variety of events.

Our Clinical Consultant Dr Fred La Hood, has many years of experience in the addiction treatment field. He was Medical Director of Queen Mary Hospital Robert_01.jpg1994-2003, and currently works in general practice as well as acting clinical consultant to WellTrust.

Administration, funding and financial matters are handled by Trish Bullard who formerly worked for 17 years as Executive Officer at Taita College. Trish joined WellTrust in February 2007, and also has a genuine concern for young people.

Our full and part-time counsellors are all university graduates and members of their professional body. They work with young people aged 10-19 by providing alcohol and drug intervention programmes to help them reach their full potential as healthy and contributing members of society. This is a free out-patient service. They also assist schools to be more supportive for students with AOD issues.

We are constantly evolving and evaluating what we do. We research what works best for youth and are always looking to make our service especially youth appropriate. One of our counsellors has developed an 8 wk school based cooking programme to engage at-risk youth, and as an organisation we are planning to provide more whanau/parent support and ongoing care and advocacy initiatives for teenagers.

We also employ a Quality Consultant and a Maori Cultural Advisor, and work closely with Police Youth Workers in an Alternative Action prerogative.
